Claude + Canva: a full deck from one sentence

Connect Claude to Canva once and it becomes your designer. You type one plain-English sentence, Claude shows you a few design styles, and it builds real, editable slides straight in your Canva account. No design skills, no templates, no dragging boxes around.

I did this whole thing on my phone. Claude talks to Canva through a connector, so once they're linked, any chat can design for you: Claude writes the content, Canva generates the actual deck, and you get a link to slides you can edit like any other Canva design.

Before you start: you need the Claude app and a Canva account (the free plan works). If you don't see Connectors in Claude, update the app. Everything below works on the phone, and the same flow works on desktop too.

The 5 steps

  1. Connect Claude to Canva, once. In the Claude app, tap the + button next to the message box, tap Connectors, and connect Canva. Sign in to Canva when it asks. You only ever do this once.
  2. Give it one job. Start a new chat and type one sentence that names Canva and the deck you want. Mine is below, steal it and swap the topic.
  3. Pick a style. Claude comes back with a few design candidates (mine generated four). Just tell it which one you like.
  4. Tap the link. Claude adds the deck to your Canva account and hands you a link. Tap it and the whole thing opens in the Canva app.
  5. Make it yours. Change the text, the colors, anything. These are real editable slides, not screenshots.
The exact prompt from the video
Create a 5 slide deck using canva on why most founders waste money on ads

The pattern is: what to make, plus "using canva", plus your topic. Naming Canva in the prompt is what makes Claude reach for the connector instead of just writing an outline.

Good next prompts

  • "Create a 6 slide pitch deck using canva for [your business], clean and minimal."
  • "Create a 5 slide client proposal using canva for [service], professional style."
  • "Create a 4 slide Instagram carousel using canva about [topic], bold and colorful."

What you need

  • The Claude app (phone or desktop).
  • A Canva account. The free plan is enough.
  • About two minutes. No design skills, no code.

That is the whole trick. If it was useful, the newsletter is where I send the next one before it hits YouTube.
